Parks Seasonal Worker

Department: Public Works
Location: Glenpool, OK

Job Summary: The Parks Seasonal Worker performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled work in the operation and maintenance of the city parks, including weeding, mowing, collecting trash and other tasks to provide seamless cooperative service to our residents and visitors.


Physical requirements: Required to work standard working hours during the day. The worker is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, run, talk, and hear. The worker is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or operate objects, controls, or tools. Must be able to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and smell. The worker must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.

Certification: Possession of a valid driver’s license.


Essential Job Functions

A worker in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential duties:

  • Cut grass and trims weeds on city property and parks using lawn mower and weed trimmer.
  • Dig flower beds and plants flowers using gardening tools.
  • Clean buildings, wash windows, and empty trash cans.
  • Painting interior and exterior walls and trimming.
  • Repair or replace building brick, stone, and concrete.
  • Replace worn or damaged parts.
  • Hand wash vehicles.
  • Perform related tasks as required.

A worker in this class must have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities upon application:

  • Light equipment operating principle, practices, and procedures.

  • Hazards and safety precautions common to mechanized equipment operation.

  • Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.

  • Establish and maintain highly effective working relationships with other workers and the public.

  • Adhere to all City and departmental safety policies and procedures.
